The Bald Goat

What a whirlwind of a day! Today started earlier and ended later than most and I am beat, but I wanted to make a quick post and share my thoughts for today. The whole reason I wanted to do this Lent: 47 day challenge was to bring me closer to God.

- It is not supposed to be some discipline or torture or punishment to prove to God how much I love him.

- It is not supposed to be a “hey look at me!” thing to get me attention from friends, family, and strangers on the Internet.

- It is not supposed to be about me sharing with the world how smart, clever, gifted, deep I THINK I may be.

And so I am using today as a reality check. To keep my focus and take the time now to spend with God to write this blog. I want to honor a commitment to no one else but Him to get together for no other reason, but to say “Hi!”

Lord, I am blown away by the fact that you make time to spend with me as if there is nothing in the world you would rather be doing than hanging out, “wasting time”. Thanks for being patient and waiting until the end of the day today to officially get together. I value the time we have started spending together. Keep me focused on you and call out to me when I get “too busy” and distracted by the world.
